So, for those whom I haven't already BORED with my training regimen -- 25 days left until the triathlon! My friend Liz decided to do a triathlon on May 10th. She brought it up at our ward book group and 5 of us decided to all join in! We should have had Barnes and Noble sponser us!
Anyway, it's a 1/4 mile swim in Tempe Town Lake (aptly nicknamed Tempe Brown Lake) -- that is going to be GROSS. I guess it is just filthy -- and an open water swim is supposed to be tons harder than a pool. Then, a 12 mile bike ride, ending up with a 5K (3.1 mile) run. I'm the least looking forward to the run. The last triathlon I did was in college, 11 years ago when I was in great shape (I had just run a marathon and worked out like 2 hours a day to avoid dealing with the fact that all my roommates were getting married and I was graduating from BYU without even a boyfriend... but that is another story for another day -- in fact, check out my friend Wendy's blog for a song we recorded about just that epoch in my life).
Anyway, even then, the 5K at the end was TORTURE. TORTURE. And now, I love to swim and enjoy biking, but running -- ugh. I need to figure out a way to get my ipod for the running portion. What are your favorite songs to work out to?
But, I've thoroughly enjoyed having a fitness goal and working out with my friends. So, in about 26 days, look for another blog about hopefully having successfully completed the all-woman's SheRox triathlon!

Yeah... you're a CHAMP!! I totally admire your dedication. There is NO way I'd ever do this, so I will just continue to encourage and cheer you on! GO JENNIE!!!

Good luck! I could never do it either. My sister is running the Salt Lake Marathon tomorrow - 25 miles?! I'll cheer her on - but never join her!
Wow! You are a brave woman. Not just for the Tempe Town Lake either.
You are such a woman! I remember cheering you on at your BYU triathalon. I am a horrible swimmer, esp. when it comes to brown murky water.
Good running music is a guy called Mika--I love his Lollipop song and Big Girl (You are Beautiful). Also, Zak and Sara by Ben Folds. I also love to run to ABBA.
Good luck! Can't wait to read about it. I'll cheer you on in my head. Feel the good vibes coming from Georgia.
Man, Jen, reading all about your life via your blog makes me miss you! I wish we lived next door to each other and our kitchens joined, and we could sneak over and play Scrabble and Nertz and pig out late at night!
Jennie - Way to go. I only wish I could get into good shape like you. I jogged about 2 miles the other day and thought I would die. Greg's little sister just did the Boston Marathon this morning in 3 hours and 34 minutes. Crazy. I just do the 8.5 x 11 pages still. I know - I am truly the last one on the planet!

Okay, the greatest songs to run to (in my opinion) are: Living on a Prayer (Bon Jovi), How Far We've Come (Matchbox 20), Suddenly I see (KT Tunstall), Let's get it Started (Black eyed Peas), and Desire (U2). You should compile a list of songs you like (is that the right word) to run to. I am always looking for something to get me going a little more.
